What I've been loving this month: November Favourites

Yet again, another month has flown by. I can't believe it's already 1st December tomorrow, this year has gone so fast- although I probably say that every year. This month I have quite a few new bits in my favourites. So here's what I've been loving this month. More in depth reviews will be up soon.

Soap & Glory The Breakfast Scrub
I've only just popped up a review of this on here so I won't babble for too long. But I haven't been able to put this gorgeous smelling scrub down this month. After use my skin feels silky soft and I just love love love the maple syrup scent!

VO5 Hot Hair Oil
As these are designed to be used as a weekly treatment, I have only had the chance to try one out this month. But from one use I can tell me and this oil will be friends for a very long time! My hair felt so lovely and silky. I find that especially as it's a hot oil, it feels like a super luxurious step added into my regular routine. It's definitely worth a try if you have dry or damaged hair, especially as these were on offer in Boots when I bought them.

Nails inc nail polish in St James
I got this little beauty in the latest Glamour magazine, which are doing quite a few shades at the moment. Before this, I had never tried any Nails inc polishes as they are pretty pricey. I love the shade, I thought I would go for the red as it is such a classic nail colour that I would use a lot. The shade is a classic pillar box red and it's pretty invincible to chips for a long time.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush
After loving my other balm stain in Lovesick, reviewed here, I thought it would be a good idea to pick up another shade. The shade Crush is the perfect berry shade for Autumn/Winter months. I feel much more comfortable wearing this rather than the Kate Moss for Rimmel berry lipstick as it's a bit more subtle and easier to pull off.

17 Instant Glow Shimmer Brick in Pink Bronze
This little gem has to be one of my favourite budget buys recently. For months I have been lusting after a Bobbi Brown shimmer brick, this satisfies my needs for a shimmer brick whilst being much more kinder on the purse strings. I swirl my brush around the sections, concentrating on the top section and brush onto my cheekbones. The shimmer is really pretty and subtle enough to avoid the glitter ball face look.

Superdrug Aqua Hydrating Serum
I've been loving using this in place of my moisturiser at night time. I'm yet to find a night cream that I like, in all honesty I haven't looked very far. But I don't like using my normal moisturiser as I find it just too heavy for before bed as I don't have particularly dry skin. This is thin enough to feel light on the skin but hydrating enough for this time of year. The fact that it's fragrance free is a big bonus for me as well as many scented creams tend to irritate my skin.

Maybelline Million Lashes mascara
This isn't a new product to me as I've been going back to this for years. I just love the way it applies, it doesn't smudge underneath my eyes and looks natural enough whilst defining my eyes perfectly.

Blistex Intensive Moisturiser lip treatment
I have quite liked using this in the night before bed as the cold winter nights seem to take a toll on my poor lips, leaving them quite sore and dry. A slap of this on before bed does wonders for my cracked lips by the morning. Although unfortunately I read this morning that Blistex tests on animals, which I am against so I'm quite annoyed at myself for not checking before purchasing. I won't be repurchasing this after although it is a lovely lip moisturiser.

Loreal Rouge Caresse in 04 Rose
Rose is the perfect name for this shade as it leaves a lovely rosey colour on the lips whilst keeping lips hydrating. I feel this is perfect for a simple day look as it is subtle yet pretty. I really like the way these feel and look on the lips, so I'll be picking up a few more.

Benefit Hervana blush
I recently put up a post on this here, this is the most perfect shade of blush for me ever. This shade is perfect for Autumn/Winter due to it's slight purple undertone. It leaves a gorgeous flushed rosy look on the cheeks which I love!

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser- Oil Free
I have been loving applying this with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush. The coverage is perfect for me, which surprised me at first. I really want to try a few more bits from Laura Mercier as they look impressive.

Soap & Glory: The Breakfast Scrub

After falling in love with Clean On Me shower cream and The Righteous Butter, which I received from my brother last Christmas- impressive! I thought it was time to give a few more bits a go! My lovely best friend gave me this along with some other Soap & Glory goodies for my birthday- she knows me too well. I can honestly say that I have completely fallen in love with it.

I think the main reason why I have an undying love for this product is the scent. It smells absolutely gorgeous! On the Soap & Glory website, it is described as an ' Exfoliator with organic cupuacu bio scrubs, bananas, almond and honey extracts.' The scent is described as 'new maple', which I think is sooo lovely. It smells exactly like maple syrup which I love, it isn't too strongly scented which I find many scrubs etc. are. As sad as this sounds, this scrub makes me look forward to shower time more so than ever. I love the way it makes my skin feel. After using this my skin feels so soft and nourished, not at all stripped.

I love using this in the morning then spritzing on some body mist. But if I'm using this before bed I will use this scrub in the shower, then slather myself in The Righteous Butter. There is nothing that I dislike about anything that I have tried from this brand so far. I have to say that I'm not really a fan of the scent of 'Sugar Crush' after I gave it a sniff in Boots the other day, but I could be wrong. Next on the list is The Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser, Whipped Clean Shower Butter and Heel Genius foot cream!

What do you like from Soap & Glory?

Dear Santa....// The Christmas wish list

Christmas wishlist

So my lovely Mother asked me to write her a Christmas list so she has an idea of what I would like. I thought I'd pop it up in a post so you can maybe get some gift ideas for friends, family etc.

p.s The Origins Mask trio is a really good deal considering you're getting 3 huge masks for £29 when each mask costs £20 individually.

What's on your Christmas list?

It's Christmas// Tag

After reading a few Christmas themed posts which really got me into the Christmas spirit, I thought it was time to do my own!
I love Christmas so I found a Christmas tag that Beauty Crush did on her Youtube channel last year! I tag everyone.

Christmas Tag questions:
1.Whats Your Favorite Holiday Movie?
It has to be The Santa Clause! Last year I saw The Polar Express and thought that was really sweet too! I love any cheesy Christmas movie really. When I was little I loved a film about a cow, Annabelle's Wish I think it was called, I was obsessed! The less childish favourite Christmas movie has to be The Holiday!

2. Whats Your Favorite Christmas Color?
Definitely red! And maybe a bit of glitter. Everyone loves a bit of glitter!

3. Do You Like To Stay in Your PJs Or Dress Up For Christmas?
I do both really, when we wake up and open presents we stay in our PJs for a few hours. But we get changed for Christmas dinner. I always end up in my PJs again by 5pm though ;)

4. If You Could Only Buy One Person a Present This Year Who Would It Be?
That's a really hard question :( I would probably say my Mum as she does everything for me, but my Dad also does a lot for me. I'd feel bad leaving my boyfriend out too :( I'm going to cheat and say I'd buy my Mum a present that everyone will like/use ;)

5. Do You Open Your Present Christmas Eve Or Christmas Morning?
Christmas morning! I know a few people that open one present on Christmas Eve but it's the tradition in my family to open them all on Christmas Morning.

6. Have You Ever Built a Ginger Bread House?
No :( I think this is an American thing because I remember seeing them on films a lot when I was little but only within the past few years have I seen them in the UK shops! I would love to make one though. Maybe this year.

7. What Do You Like To Do On Your Christmas Break?
To be quite honest, I like to be completely lazy. I love laying in my pjs, reading a good book or watching Christmas films with family whilst stuffing my face with food. Doesn't everyone though?

8. Any Christmas Wishes?
I don't think I usually do Christmas wishes? But I suppose I would just say, to have happy and healthy family and friends.
9. Favorite Christmas Smell?
Cinnamon! I love the smell of cinnamon all year round, but it reminds me of Christmas.

10. Favorite Christmas Meal Or Treat?
Definitely has to be the actual Christmas roast dinner and a few too many Celebrations or Roses don't hurt!

I tag everyone who reads this to do this tag in a post/video! Make sure you leave the link to yours in the comments so I can have a look.

Hope you have a lovely Christmas everyone.

Too Faced Naked Eye palette

After reading a ridiculous amounts of reviews of Urban Decay's the Naked palette, I thought I was convinced enough to take the plunge and spend all my pennies. But every time the opportunity arose, I always held back. I mean just over £30 for eye shadow? I've only ever once paid that for a foundation, which I think is a bit more reasonable. But that amount of money for eye shadow? Although I would love one and it would have been popping up on my Christmas list, I have found an amazing alternative, which I bought for around £10 on a blog sale. I bought it un-used for £10! That's amazing considering this palette is currently £20.80 on Beauty Bay.

First of all, I do apologise for the state of the packaging! The black smudges everywhere due to the material of the packaging, so when you try to wipe it off, it makes it worse :(

The thing I love most about this palette, is the diversity of the colours. I can do a variety of looks with this, whether it be a soft neutral, smoky neutral or a smoky eye. Majority of the colours are amazing quality, I say this because the lighter shades, 'Pink Cheeks' and 'In The Buff' are a tiny bit chalky, but only if layered up too much. Admittedly  these aren't the shades I lean towards anyway. Apart from those shades, the shadows are buttery soft and really nicely pigmented. They aren't too pigmented in that they are hard to work with.

The shades I use the most are-
If I'm going for a daytime, neutral look I will go for 'Satin Sheets' all over the lid and 'Birthday Suit' blended out to the crease.
If I want a neutral eye that is slightly smoky/suitable for night time, I will go for 'Lap Dance' all over the lid with 'Like A Virgin' through the crease and 'Unmentionables' blended across the outer half of the lid.
If I want a smoky eye look I'll use 'Unmentionables' across the lid, 'Like A Virgin' in the crease and  'Stiletto' to line the lid.

Overall, I think this palette is an incredibly good buy for me as I've had so much use out of it. I think it has fulfilled my need for a new neutral palette. Have you tried this palette? I would be interested to know if you have tried the Urban Decay Naked palette and wondering if you think it is worth the money?

weekend wishlist

1. Cath Kidson make-up bag- I've been after a new make-up bag for a while and this Cath Kidson one from asos is so cute. I love the girly pattern.

2. Paul & Joe Pearl Foundation Primer- I have to admit, it's the the bottle that attracts me to this. I'm after trying out a new primer and this bottle looks amazing. I haven't actually heard anything about the formula which may be a bad thing, but it would look so cute on my dressing table. *slaps wrist*

3. Topshop embellished collar dress- I love this dress especially the collar and fit. It seems like it would be quite comfortable too. I suppose it could be dressed down as well. This might have to accidentally find it's way into my online basket...

4. Asos studded loafers- As I am mourning the loss of my beloved Topshop Vectras, I need another pair of black studded shoes. I wore my other pain to death, to the point that they are now unwearable :( I need another pair in my life and these look lovely.

5. Korres lip butter in Guince- I've heard quite a lot about these and as I love tinted lip balm I need one! I love the look of this shade.

6. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain- I can't remember the shade name of this one but it looks perfect for the Autumn/Winter months and I am in love with the shade 'love sick'. So naturally I need another one!

7. Benefit Dallas- I've been after this ever since I heard I Covet Thee talk about it. As my skin tone is similar to hers, I noticed how lovely it looked on her. I thought it would be too muddy on my skin tone but after a swatch every time I walk past Benefit, I have decided that I need it!

8. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream- I've heard soooo much about this. I have loads of dry areas on my face, arms and lips recently so I need something nourishing. I might buy this for my mum and I to use as we are suffering from dry skin in this weather.

My current beauty favourites

As I'm never up to date with the monthly favourites posts and my make-up doesn't usually change dramatically every month, I thought I'd just show a few of my current favourites..
A lot of new things have entered my current make-up routine, which is unusual as I usually stick to the things I like for quite a while.

I have quite a few base bits that are new in my current favourites..

Laura Mercier Tinted MoisturiserI bought this a few weeks ago and I have actually fallen head over heels in love with it. I went for this over Laura Mercier Silk Creme, as I've been trying to improve my skin and coming to the realisation that the 'less is more' approach on my skin looks much better on me. This is everything that I have wanted in a base. A full review will be coming very soon!

Maybelline Cover StickI have been on the quest for the perfect concealer for a very long time. I am yet to find the 'perfect' concealer, if that even exists. But this comes pretty close. I hadn't seen or heard about this until Tanya Burr mentioned it in one of her videos and as I am willing to try any concealer that I can get my hands on, I thought I'd give it a go. It's a really lovely formula and I am quite impressed so far. A full review is coming soon!

Topshop highlight powder in Sun Beam
I did a full review of this here, so I won't babble on for too long, I promise! But I haven't been able to put this down since I bought it. It just gives the nicest glow ever which is essential when my skin is looking quite dull due to the weather.

Rimmel Stay Matte powder
There isn't much to say about this powder other than it really does do the job. I tend to get a bit shiny down the centre of my face so I just lightly dust this using a small blush brush. It sets my make-up well without caking on the face if I'm heavy handed. A full review is coming soon.

Rimmel Fix and Perfect primer
This leaves my skin with a lovely smooth base which makes applying my foundation a dream. I didn't realise how much I loved this until I forgot to apply it and my make-up didn't go on very well at all. I'm unsure to whether it makes my make-up stay put for a considerable amount of time, but regardless, it smooths out my skin in preparation for foundation and hydrates my dry areas.

Benefit Hervana blush
I have just posted a review of this, which you can find here. I am in love with this blusher. It gives me the perfect rosy pink cheek which I love in winter as it contrasts with my pale complexion.

Recently, I've been going for a really simple eye look that lasts all day and night..

Maybelline Volume Million Lashes mascara
This is my all time favourite mascara. I've tried so many mascaras but always end up going back to this. I tend to usually buy a mascara that is on offer in Boots when my current runs out, so I haven't really used this in quite a while. It's just the easiest mascara to use and I find it gives the best results out of all in the drug store. I bought it in brown rather than black as I think it suits my eye colour better and looks slightly more natural. A full review will be up soon.

Maybelline Colour 24hr Tattoo eye shadow in 'On and On Bronze'
This is the most gorgeous shade for all over the lid. I literally just put this on my eyes with my finger, apply mascara and that is my eye make-up done. It is so quick and simple but also lasts all day on my eyes which is amazing as eye shadow creases so badly on my oily eye lids, boo! I'm thinking of getting a few more of these in different colours! A full review will be up soon.

Rimmel ScandalEyes Kohl Eyeliner in Nude
I'm not 100% sure that I have the correct shade name, but regardless it is the only nude colour eye liner in the collection so you will find it. I love popping this little beauty on my waterline if I'm looking a bit tired and I'm looking bright eyed and bushy tailed in no time! It lasts a good few hours before it needs touching up but with it being the first drug store nude eyeliner, it's pretty darn good!

Elf studio Concealer Brush
After a little incident with my hd brows palette (the black shade smashed so I tried to empty the remains into the sink forgetting the brush was in there which fell down the plug hole, sob:( ) I was left on my birthday of all days, with one eye brow filled in! After a frantic search in my brushes to find a brush to fill in my other eye brow, I found this little beauty. I disregarded this as a concealer brush as I find my fingers better. I absolutely love this brush for my eye brows. It is so precise and easy to use. It's so cheap and does the job amazingly, I won't be sobbing about my long lost brow brush any more.

Real Techniques Blush brushMy best friend gave me this for my birthday- she knows me too well! I absolutely love this, as well as all the other brushes of the collection that I own. It is so soft and applies blush so beautifully. I could write an essay on how much I love this brush.

I'm sorry this post has been so long. What are your beauty favourites at the moment? I'd love for you to let me know :)

Benefit Hervana- 'a good karma face powder'

With my beloved blusher collection quickly over taking my make-up collection, I thought I wouldn't find a blush that I would want to wear every day for the rest of my life. But I have. This is the prettiest blush I have ever used and I don't think I'll ever find another that I like as much.

When the four shades- 'lucky shell', 'divine peach', 'heavenly rose' and 'berry delight' blend together it creates a gorgeous rosy colour on the cheeks which compliments many skin tones, especially paler girls. I absolutely adore this shade, the berry tone mixed with the pinky peach means it looks gorgeous for Autumn/winter. I feel blushes that lean more rosy pink rather than pinky peach suit my pale skin tone much nicer. - image from Benefit
When I swatched this shade, I really didn't think much of it. When it's swatched it looks a lot lighter, less rosy and just a pale, peachy pink. I'm so glad the lady on the counter tried it on me, because on the skin it looks so gorgeous. The pictures and swatches really do not do this justice. This is now my go to blush if I want to have the natural, flushed, rosy cheek look.

I do think that like most Benefit products, the blushes are expensive. But the amount of product that you get for the price, the amazing pigmentation and the longevity make me think that it is worth the price. Benefit box powders last forever, I had Coralista for christmas last year and have used it almost every day (until Hervana came along of course) Although I have hit pan, it will not be finished for a very long time.

Next on the list is Dallas. Have you tried any of Benefit's boxed powders? What did you think?

Everyone loves a good freebie.

These beautiful little freebies are from various magazines such as Glamour and Instyle as well as from the Benefit counter with purchases. I love the Benefit freebies, simply because they have soo much product in them- especially Benetint and High Beam. They really do give you a true indicator of whether or not the product is for you, when let's face it you will be spending quite a lot of money if you buy the full size. From these freebies, I'm now able to say whether I would buy any of these products in full size, I haven't actually ever owned the full size of any of these before. So here goes a mini review of each..

Benefit High Beam-
I seem to remember picking this up in Glamour magazine a good few months back, this was a perfect freebie for me because Glamour is my all time favourite magazine so I wasn't just buying it for the freebie which is always a bonus! This has lasted me forever because you only need a tiny amount at a time as little goes a long way. At first, I applied this to my cheek bones, along my nose and my brow bone, but for some reason it doesn't really blend into the skin/foundation very well on the cheeks. After a bit of playing with this, I found this is much better as a brow bone highlight as it really does lift up the brow bone, as it is quite vibrant yet subtle. I sometimes dab a bit along the tip of my nose, but I leave the cheeks for another highlighter. I also like putting this on the high points of my face- cheeks, forehead, nose, brow bone etc underneath my foundation to act as a brightening primer which works wonders if your skin is looking a bit dull. I wonder how long the full size would last as this is probably like a quarter of the size of the full sized bottle and I am no where near to finishing it! Once this is all gone (if I ever get through it!) I will definitely be buying the full size as it is great value for the amount you get.

Benefit Benetint-
I got this a few weeks ago in Instyle magazine, I was after Sunbeam but Benetint was the only one left. Rather than searching other shops in the hope of finding Sunbeam, I thought it was best to settle with Benetint as I hadn't tried that either. To say I was disappointed by this would be wrong, but I'm not exactly blown away. I don't really know what I was expecting but as this is quite a beauty cult favourite, I was expecting quite impressive results. I first tried this on my lips which was a bit mistake.. I don't think I have particularly dry lips, although the lip tints I have tried (with the exception of balm stains) have failed miserably on my lips. This just seemed to dry my lips out instantly after applying it. My lips almost 'shrivelled' up if you will. Oh what a lovely image of myself I am painting here... I attempting it on my cheeks but I haven't quite mastered the technique yet I'm afraid, I think this shade would suit my complexion as a cheek stain so I will have a play and report back!

Benefit Porefessional-
I was quite impressed with how this minimised my pores tremendously but as a primer, I didn't really feel as if it made my make-up stay on longer than it did before. I'm unsure to whether I like the feel of this consistency on my skin or not as it's quite strange as it is a silicone based primer. I know lots of people swear by this but I think it's good, but nothing that I will be frantically running to my nearest Benefit counter to buy any time soon. At £23.50, I think that this is very overpriced for what it is, as are a lot of Benefit's products which is a shame. After giving this a go, I don't think I'll be buying the full size any time soon.

Benefit 'That Gal'-
This brightening primer really is lovely. To me the scent reminds me of strawberry Chewits sweets. Anyone? It's a pinky colour and quite thin in consistency, which at first I thought was rather odd but it really does brighten up the face and gives you a healthy, radiant glow. At £21.50 a pop, I don't think I will be picking the full size up any time soon as although it does brighten, I didn't really notice much difference in the longevity of my foundation which is essentially what it should do for the price.

I'm pretty sure the Benefit freebie InStyle issue is still out at the moment, but it won't be for much longer so make sure you get your hands on it if you would like to try Sunbeam, Benetint or Cha cha tint!

I think I'm going to start doing posts that tell you what freebies are out each month so nobody misses out on a good bargain. Let me know if any of you would be interested in those kind of posts. I'd love it if you could tell me what your favourite Benefit product is?
p.s apologies for the poor photo quality, it will be fixed soon

My current skincare favourites

I'm finally going to start blogging regularly again. I've managed to create a time table for all my work and revision etc so I can finally make time to do more blogging, which I'm very happy about!

Here's a few bits of skincare that I'm loving at the moment.

No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Water:

This cleansing water has completely changed my skincare routine. I use this with Kleenex Facial Cloths, just putting a pump or two onto the cotton cloth. Without stating the obvious, I wipe this across my entire face, avoiding my eyes- although I think it would be sensitive enough to use on eye make-up I just have very sensitive eyes! This cleansing water just completely melts your make-up off and leaves skin feeling so clean and fresh. It says on the back that it tightens pores, which I agree with as my skin doesn't look shiny and plumped, it just feels incredibly cleansed. Although it mattifies it definitely doesn't dry out my combination skin. I find the patches of my skin that tend to  lean to dry, are simply cleansed and fine after applying moisturiser, which is normal for my skin. I tend to use this to removed my make-up before using a cleanser such as Liz Earle or Nspa hot cloth cleanser or a melting gel cleanser which I adore (both reviewed here and here). It says on the front that it is "1 simple step to perfectly clean, refreshed, shine free skin" I believe that this statement completely sums up this product and if I'm a bit tired after a night out or just feeling incredibly lazy, I just use this and slap on some moisturiser then off to bed I go.

Simple Kind To Eyes eye make-up remover:

I actually believe myself when I say that this is the one and only eye make-up remover I will ever use. I say this because every single eye make-up remover lotion stings my eyes like acid. I didn't even think I had sensitive eyes but having tried way too many, I have figured out that nothing compares to this gentle but 'really does the job' formulation. One of the many reasons that I adore this is the fact that it contains no oils. I don't know about you but I absolutely hate having that greasy feeling that seems to spread across your whole entire face and is nearly impossible to get rid of. It actually makes me shudder just thinking about my experiences with them.. The formula has 'pro-vitamin B5' which is said to actively restore, soften and smooth skin. It also has no perfume, colouring or harsh chemical that causes sensitive skin to react. I just find that this is so gentle that it is like putting water on my eyes, well water that removes a ton of heavy eye make-up in one swipe.   I will be repurchasing this until I die okay?

Botanics Rosewater Toning Spritz:

Like most people are doing their skincare routine, I enjoy the feeling of my skin being completely fresh and clean. I feel that before this toning spritz, I didn't really feel as refreshed as I would have liked. This little beauty has completely shaken up my skincare routine. I like to use this between cleansing and moisturising in the morning as I feel like it really does brighten my skin and makes me feel refreshed. The fact that this is 100% organic and that it has been compared to Caudalie Beauty Elixir completely drew me into buying this product. In all honesty, I didn't really fancy spending money on something so hyped up when essentially it seemed like a bottle of strange smelling water. I'm extremely glad that I didn't get too drawn into that hype as I really love this toner and it now has a firm place in my skincare routine. I know some people spritz this over their make-up throughout the day to freshen up their make-up, I personally haven't tried this as I have the impression that the spray wouldn't really be fine enough. But I love this little gem and I will definitely be repurchasing.

No7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream, Normal/Oily:

I absolutely adore no7 day creams and I have for years but surprisingly this was actually my first time purchasing one. The reason for this is that I've been 'borrowing' my mother's for years- it's the best way! But as my mum decided to buy one for her skin type which is dry rather than Essential Moisture one that I 'borrowed', I thought it was time to buy my own. I have nothing to say about this product other than I think it's the loveliest moisturiser ever. It is the perfect consistency. I feel like most brands make their moisturisers that are targeted at an 'oily' skinned audience too thin, which usually isn't moisturising enough for my combination skin. This cream isn't too thick nor too thin, meaning it gives me plenty of moisture without creating a greasy film on my skin welcoming spots. What's not to love really? Everyone loves a classic.

It feels like this post has been quite lengthy which I usually hate, but I feel like I had a lot to say about these products and it's better to have it all in one place. What are your skincare favourites at the moment? I'd love to have a chat with you about them. :)
