New Year, New wishlist

New Year, New wishlist

New Year, New wishlist by diggingdaisies

As usual, there's a ridiculous amount of things that I'm hoping I will get around to buying soon. Yes, I am still longing for Benefit Dallas. I keep swatching it every time I walk past the Benefit counter and I always walk away empty handed, sob! The Caudalie Cleansing Water looks lovely and after enjoying my No7 cleansing water I think I should give this a go. I am in desperate need of Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate at the moment as my skin is in need of some some serious moisture. I tried a sample size of this before and it was gorgeous. Everyone is talking about Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair and I really want to get my hands on a bottle! It's so so expensive though, boo! After hearing Tanya Burr and Alix from I Covet Thee say how much they love Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation, I'm desperate to try it. Stila In The Light palette has also been on the wishlist for a long time, that's a sign that it needs to be purchased as it clearly isn't an impulse buy!

The Best of Beauty: 2012

So it's finally here. I've been looking forward to putting this up for way too long. I originally planned to put this up on the first but revision got in the way- as always! I thought I would put them into categories rather than explaining them one by one in bulk. Any products that I haven't already written reviews on will definitely be up sometime in the next few months. It's going to be a  long one so grab yourself a cuppa, sit back and let's have a look back over the beauty bits of 2012. Without further ado here are my favourite products of 2012...

Make-up bits

Favourite foundation/tinted moisturiser: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser
I'm still in the process of writing a review up for this little beauty so I won't give away too much but I have absolutely fallen in love with this. The finish is beautiful. The colour match is perfection and the coverage is lightweight. I couldn't possibly have chosen a favourite foundation as I'm yet to try one I love, every one I try just seems so 'meh'. Alas, this year will be my year to find a favourite foundation.

Favourite concealer: Boujois Healthy Mix concealer & Bobbi Brown Corrector (Not pictured)
This is the best concealer on the market, in my opinion. It is so creamy and pigmented to cover every blemish. It doesn't cake on the skin so you can layer it up and it is quite yellow toned so the colour counteracts the redness- perfect! Bobbi Bown's Corrector is my life saver every morning. No matter how much sleep I get, I will without a doubt always get horrendous dark circles.

Favourite powder: Rimmel Stay Matte in Translucent
If I ever use powder, this is the one I will always go to over the others without fail. It just finishes off my make-up perfectly, especially when used with my Real Techniques Contour brush to set under my eyes.

Favourite brow product: HD Brows in Bombshell
I'm so glad that I picked this up in a blog sale all those months ago! I saw absolutely everyone talking about it and after smashing my Benefit Browzings on the floor, I was in desperate need! I kind of wish that I looked into the high street first at Sleek's etc because it's much cheaper. I only paid £10 for this and it was unopened, I'm not sure how much it is usually. This powder stays all day on my brows without fail and is the most natural looking shade I have tried.

Favourite bronzer/contour shade: Sleek Face Contour Kit in Light
I remember picking this up in Superdrug on boxing day last year whilst I was out sales shopping. I'm still yet to come close to finishing this. It's velvety smooth and completely matte which is perfect for contouring. It is light enough for my pale skin, although I have to be careful that I don't over apply as it can look slightly too muddy. That being my own fault though, not the product I must add. The highlighter in here is simply gorgeous too. The bargain for money with this product is fantastic.

Favourite blush: Benefit Hervana
This was a toughy. I am such a blush girl. However, this shade stood out amongst all others this year. I think it's just the way the pinky-rose shade flattered my fair skin. It just instantly brightens up my face and I find it makes me eyes look much more blue.

Favourite highlighter: 17 Shimmer Brick in Pink Bronze
This was also a very tough decision for me to make. This was my year for highlighters. I think last year the only highlighter I had was Benefit High Beam, which I only used on special occasions. I never thought it made much difference to my make-up. Oh how naive I was... This year I completely fell head over heels for highlighters, adding way too many to my make-up drawer I should add. This one stood out for being the most subtle and just simply stunning shade. It looks gorgeous if you're going for any shade of pink or even a nude blush. One swipe of this across my cheek bones and a dab down the centre of my nose changes my make-up look like nothing else.

Favourite mascara: Maybelline Volume Million Lashes in Brown
This little beauty is everything I want in a mascara. It looks natural, gives volume, length and definition. It doesn't flake like many mascaras that I have tried too. I also love the black version but this shade does it for me for day time wear.

Favourite eye shadow: Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze
This has been the year for simple eye make-up for me. One sweep of this gorgeous bronzy shade over the lid and a swipe of mascara and that's me done for the day. This doesn't budge on my oily eye lids and the shade is simply to die for. The shade also makes my eyes look very blue, which I love.

Favourite eye liner: Maybelline Gel Eyeliner
My first and last gel eye liner. I was so tempted to pick up Bobbi Brown's gel eye liner but after trying this I won't even bother spending the pennies. I love this so much. It glides on the lid so easily, it's so opaque and doesn't budge all day.

Best skincare brand:

Nspa Beauty Rituals which is available at Asda stores. This is the most luxurious skin care brand that I have tried on the high street. Each item is packed with natural ingredients and comes complete with a ridiculously inoffensive price tags. I have a few reviews on my blog at the moment and there will be plenty more where they came from.

Best bodycare brand:

I would be lying if I said that I wasn't absolutely addicted to Soap & Glory this year. I had a few products last year but the beginning of this year was where the love affair began. The scents are incredible and I love the fun concept of each product.

Best of nails:

Nails inc. in St James: I got this shade free in Glamour magazine recently and I have absolutely fallen in love with the shade. It's a classic red that lasts a good week without any chipping if used with a top coat.

Models Own in Ibiza Mix: This year I really got into the glitter ring finger nail trend. This looks gorgeous over most shades and unlike most glitters, it's chunky rather than sparse.

Essie in Ballet Slippers: I won this in a giveaway from the lovely Holly Arabella. I adore this shade so much. I think this shade is so simple, chic and simply classy. I always feel super classy and sophisticated with this shade on my nails. It is also completely inoffensive so goes with any outfit.

Boujois French Manicure in Blanc Glamour: This is essentially just a white nail varnish that has a really easy to use slanted brush for a French manicure effect. I love putting this on clear nails with just a base coat, then applying Essie's Ballet Slippers over the top for a subtle french manicure effect. It looks so simple and classic, I love it.

So it was a long one but we got there in the end.. That's all my favourite products for 2012. I love reading these posts, so I'd love it to know what your favourite products of 2012 are. Here's to another year of discovering amazing products and sharing them with those who love beauty. I hope you had an amazing new year, I'd love to know what you all got up to.
